banana bread recipe
1 pound cake Trade (approximately 300 g)
1/4 t ( 60 ml ) unsalted butter
1/2 cup (125 mL ) brown sugar
4 apples, peeled , cored and cut into wedges
1/2 cup ( 125 mL) coarsely chopped pecans
1 1/ 2 cups (375 ml ) Spread creamy caramel ( dulce de leche -type )
1 . Using a serrated knife , cut the cake horizontally into three . Cover with plastic wrap and set aside at room temperature.
2 . In a nonstick skillet , melt butter over medium heat . Add brown sugar , apples and pecans. Cook, stirring occasionally , for about 10 minutes or until apples are caramelized . Remove from heat and let cool.
3 . When ready to serve , in a small saucepan, heat the caramel over low heat , stirring, until it has the consistency of a sauce. Place a slice of reserved in a cake platter . Spread a third of the apple mixture on the cake. Proceed the same way with the other slices of cake and the rest of the apple mixture . Drizzle top of cake with caramel sauce .
You can prepare the apple filling in advance, let it cool and put it in an airtight container. It will keep in the refrigerator overnight .
